REINTJES Gearbox

VLJ Series

430 – 7541  |  500 – 13,200 kW

Offset reduction gearboxes with an integrated hydraulic clutch, purpose-built for waterjet propulsion in fast ferries and high-performance craft — weight-optimized, compact, and quiet, in both vertical and horizontal layouts.

Key Advantages

Engineered for Waterjet Propulsion

With more than 30 years of fast-ferry waterjet experience, the VLJ series pairs an integrated hydraulic clutch with a weight-optimized offset design — available in both vertical and horizontal layouts to suit any installation.

High Power-to-Weight Ratio

A weight-optimized design delivers maximum power for minimum mass, from 500 kW up to 13,200 kW.

Built for Waterjets

Purpose-designed reduction gears for water-jet propulsion, available vertically or horizontally offset.

Smooth Engagement

An integrated hydraulic clutch with adapted pressure increase gives smooth, controlled engagement.

Low Operating Noise

Helical, tooth-flank-ground gears and compact dimensions keep onboard noise low for ferry comfort.

Specifications

VLJ Waterjet Reduction Gearbox

kW/rpm values are listed for each reduction ratio per the REINTJES Product Guide 2026. VLJ 430–2230 use Medium, Light and Pleasure duty (lighter duty cycles permit higher ratings); VLJ 4431–7541 are rated for Continuous duty. Main dimensions (mm) are the horizontally offset design from the brochure; a vertically offset layout is also available. VLJ 1540 dimensions are on request and VLJ 4431–7541 are configured to customer requirements. Bold ratios are standard; dimensions and dry weights are not strictly binding (subject to change).
