The Steerprop W propulsors are tailormade to meet the most stringent customer needs. The Steerprop W azimuth propulsors utilize the latest technologies in hydrodynamics and power trains so that our customers can meet and exceed the required performance levels of today’s operating environments.
The Steerprop W employs carefully selected manufacturing methods to fulfill the latest requirements and improve design flexibility with modularization and scalability. Every vessel has its own performance requirements, and thanks to the modular design, customers can select various configurations to match their specific needs.

Model Range & Specifications
The W Series comes in two drive options - a Z-drive or an integrated permanent magnet (LM) motor - both covering a power range of 900 to 9,000 kW, and both available in shallow-draft versions. Every unit ships with Steerprop Care condition monitoring as standard.

High Hydrodynamic Efficiency
- Exceptional for its class, thanks to the optimized housing shape.
- No sacrificial anodes on the nozzle - instead, an added hydrodynamically shaped anode reduces flow separation from the nozzle's outer surface.
- High-efficiency nozzles for increased bollard pull.
Robust, Simplified Construction
- Electrical turning gear as standard.
- Lower body of cast steel for better hydrodynamic performance and high durability.
- All auxiliaries are built as modular units and tested during FAT.

Other input speeds available on request. The impact of propeller diameter on power, and of ice class on power, is confirmed case by case. The table covers units up to 4,500 kW; units above that - up to 9,000 kW with a maximum propeller diameter of 5.5 m - are engineered to specific project requirements.
